b.: September 13, 1856 (Paris, France) d.: May 6, 1940 (Paris, France) Popular French composer and cellist, brother of Georges Gillet. He became a pupil of the famous Niedermeyer School and the Paris Conservatoire. His music is mostly for the piano. Gillet's most famous piece is called "Loin du bal" ("Sounds from the ballroom"), but he also composed songs such as "Broken Heart".
