Australian composer and electronic musician known internationally since the early 1980s in the genres of Ambient, Industrial, Musique Concrète, Electroacoustic, Power Electronics, Harsh Noise and Free Improvisation. In recent years Xane has focused on composing works in an ambient and meditative style, influenced by his long-standing immersion in the Eastern spiritual path (Advaita Vedanta, Ramana Maharshi, UG Krishnamurti, etc) and philosophy. He has also created works in the vein of Musique Concrète, inspired by the legacy of his mentor in that field Walter Marchetti. Xane founded the Extreme label in 1984 and the Zero Cabal label in the early 90s. Xane's most celebrated / notorious power electronics project is Streicher, which has been described as one of the Industrial underground legends, and was the first Power Electronics project to exist in the Southern Hemisphere. Other industrial/experimental projects have included Nife Junger, Psy. Phalanx, The Moralunary Class, Aghori Bhakta, Exterminant and Kulmhof, as well as collaborative projects Vhril and Disciples of None (with John Murphy) and Zone Void. Xane is also a published poet, analytic philosopher and non-objective painter.
