Cypriot born singer, Alexia Vassiliou (February 05, 1964 in Famagusta, Cyprus) is an International Artist, Singer, Composer, Lyricist, and Producer. With a career spanning 30 years, 35 recorded albums and a series of Gold and Platinum records, Alexia changed Greek record sales history by having the highest grossing debut Pop album in Greece's history (ΑΛΕΞΙΑ), introduced a new music generation to the work of Mikis Theodorakis (Alexia-Mikis Theodorakis), the work of Classic American Jazz (In a Jazz Mood), and Music from Classic Greek films from the 1930's-1960's (Ta Klassika), and continues to successfully cross multiple musical genres (Re-bE; The Improvisation Series). A musical pioneer, Alexia has a lasting imprint in the history of music in Greece, by being Unique and by daring to be Different. She has collaborated with the World's greatest, including: Mikis Theodorakis, Chick Corea, John Patitucci, Andreas Vollenweider, Milva, and many others in live performances, recordings, theatre productions, and films. Alexia explores creative ways of expressing her authentic self, through music, sound, and images, and through the creation of her triple album, Re-bE, Alexia showcases her ability as a music composer, lyricist, singer, artist, and filmmaker. In 2013, Alexia’s Jazz Album, “Birds Have to Fly”, a collaboration with Peter Massink, was honored by The Recording Academy (The GRAMMY’s) for Nomination consideration for Best Jazz Vocal Album for the 56th GRAMMY Awards. Alexia is based in Cyprus and Los Angeles, USA.
