Νατάσσα Μποφίλιου

p, *1983
Musician of World

Natassa Bofiliou was born in Athens in 1983. She studies political science at the University of Athens. She has completed her musical studies in piano and music theory at the Greek Odeum. Her performing debut was made alongside Hronis Aidonidis, a prolific interpreter of traditional Greek music. Her first track release was in 2004, in an album that comprised of emerging young singers and songwriters, titled "Defteri Akroasi tis Mikris Arktou". The two songs were "Aspirini" (Aspirin) (by Gerasimos Evangelatos and Kostas Tsirkas) and "Poios kserei" (Who knows?) (by Maria Polydouri and M. Selitsaniotis). Soon after, it was time for her first personal album (2005) - a collaboration with friends Gerasimos Evangelatos (lyrics) and Kostas Tsirkas (music) entitled "100 mikres anases" (100 short breaths). Natassa Bofiliou is introduced to the audience as one of the most promising voices of her generation. In 2006 Stamatis Kraounakis offers her two songs (“Erastes” (Lovers), “Tetoia mera” (On a day like this)) in the soundtrack of Nikos Panagiotopoulos’ film "Pethainontas stin Athina" (Dying in Athens). On March 2007 she presents a series of live performances in Athens, and records the 2 track mini album "En lefko" by Gerasimos Evangelatos and Themis Karamouratidis. The first comprehensive outcome of her collaboration with lyric writer Gerasimos Evangelatos and composer Themis Karamouratidis is released in March of 2008, with the title “Mehri to telos” (All the way to the end). The said album managed to mark a strong impression on the audience and was critically well-received so much so as to soon become regarded among the greatest albums of the decade. On the verge of 2009, it is assigned to the three young artists by one of the most popular Greek radio stations, “Melodia fm”, to write a song that will inaugurate the coming year. Therefore, their new song “Efcharistirio” (note of gratitude) is aired in the first few moments of 2009. In March of the same year, it is included in a three-song extended play, titled “Tria Mystika” (Three secrets), which are made up of references to their surroundings, or implied addresses to people around them. Her customary spring appearances begin shortly after, featuring songs from the latest mini-album alongside those from her previous albums, in Metropolis Live Stage. Natassa continues touring around Greece, during the same and the following year, performing in various venues with her band, while appearing regularly in “Stavros tou Notou” music stage in Athens, and Orient and Gaia live in Thessaloniki. In March of 2010, her new album “Eisitiria dipla” (Double tickets) is released under the recording label Lyra, once again by lyric writer Gerasimos Evangelatos and composer Themis Karamouratidis. Their new project revolves around the notion of memory, recounting more recent moments, or rather distant ones. Following her noteworthy performances on the stage of Metro in April of 2010, Natassa Bofiliou launches her summer tour with a farewell concert for her fans in Athens, held in Technopolis, Gazi. What seems to make the greatest impression to the press as well as to music market professionals, is the strong bond that ties her to the people she works and plays with, her associates and her band musicians, thus forming a cell that is indivisible, and more creative as a group rather than as a unit. In October, she participates in the music act “Eho ena shedio” (I’ve got a plan) staged by Themis Karamouratidis in Cappa Theater, while a bit later she joins Pavlos Synodinos in his appearances in Pyrinas. At the same time, her ongoing tour of Greece and a series of performances in Gaia Live in Thessaloniki, conclude that year’s events. In the dawn of 2011, one of the most important Greek composers, Stavros Xarchakos, summons Natassa Bofiliou along with Yannis Haroulis to take part in his concerts, featuring songs by Manos Hatzidakis, Mikis Theodorakis and Stavros Xarchakos. Consecutively, she proceeds on to the stage of Metro that welcomes her for the second time, in a series of very successful performances. The onset of her 2011 Summer Tour of Greece is marked by an amazing concert in Technopolis, Gazi, with the impressive turnout of over 4500 spectators. In the fall of the same year, Natassa participates for the first time in ARK FESTIVAL, held in Athens, while she continues touring with her band and appearing alongside Stavros Xarchakos in various venues around Greece and Cyprus. A definite highlight of the summer of 2011 is when Natassa Bofiliou is summoned to sing for the Special Olympics Opening & Closing Ceremonies, held in Kallimarmaron Stadium, Athens, Greece, and broadcasted worldwide. In the past three years, her live performances are ongoing, with growing turnouts and constant talk about her. As a result, Natassa Bofiliou has recently signed under a major record label company, and her latest album “Oi meres tou Fotos” (The days of light) was released in June 2012, under SONY MUSIC Greece. Songs that seem to be seeking an antidote to the economic crisis and social instability are again the work of her exceedingly talented companions, Gerasimos Evangelatos and Themis Karamouratidis. These songs were initially presented in the spring of 2012, prior to the album release, to her Athens audience in a series of 15 sold-out concerts in a venue that holds more than 1000 spectators. In the months that followed, "The days of light" summer tour was launched, and Natassa Bofiliou appeared in all major open air theatres all over Greece with outstanding turnouts. The tour culminated in an amazing concert held in Technopolis, Gazi, where 7000 spectators flooded the venue in an unprecedented success, verifying in every sense that "The days of light" are -fortunately- here!
