Ilya Rubinstein (b. 1980) is a Russian cellist, member of National Philharmonie Orchestra Of Russia (since 2003) and Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, one of the founders of FX Quartet. He graduated from the Gnesin Academy of Music (studying with Valentin Berlinsky) and received his PhD in contemporary music from the Moscow Conservatory in 2008. Ilya also attended workshops with Eberhard Finke in Zurich (2000). He plays Vincenzo Ruggeri antique cello. In 1996–98, Rubinstein was a concertmaster at the 'Matan' Israeli Youth Orchestra. He also played with Russian-American Youth Orchestra and participated in the 15-th anniversary world tour. As a soloist, Ilya had been performing with Russian State Symphony Orchestra, Kiev Camerata, Gnesin Virtuosos Chamber Orchestra and various other ensembles. In 2001, his trio received a special prize at the International Chamber Music Competition 'Provincia di Caltanissetta.' Apart from the classical repertoire, Ilya Rubinstein plays in various other genres, collaborates with electronic and avant-garde artists, composes original music for theatrical plays, etc.
