Musician / Composer of Electronic, Rock and Jazz
Mikhail Agre (b. 1961) is a Russian free jazz pianist and composer who lives in Israel since 1990. He graduated from the Uralsk Conservatory in 1983. Mikhail had been participating in various festivals as a pianist in the middle of the 1980s, where he met and started collaborating with many prominent figures of the late Soviet jazz avant-garde, including Sergey Kuryokhin, Sergey Letov and Vyacheslav Ganelin. He was a member of Pop-Mekhanika. Agre participated in the Autumn Rhythms–88 festival with his trio and the concert was released by Melodiya on a split-album with Petras Vyšniauskas Quartet. In Israel, Mikhail Agre organized Tabula Rasa trio and joined Jerusalem Art Ensemble. Apart from jazz, he composes academic electronica, symphonic and chamber pieces, music for films and theater plays. Agre collaborated with such musicians as Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Albert Mangelsdorff and Roger Eno.
