Jazz and Pop
A.k.a. Орест-Вальтер Оскарович Кандат
Orest Kandat or Орест Кандат (1908–1972) was a Soviet jazz musician, performer on banjo, alto saxophone and clarinet. He was born in Vienna in the family of vagrant musicians. Orest started playing in Georgi Landsberg Jazz Capella, and for many years performed with Leonid Utesov's Jazz Orchestra (1930-55). In 1965, he established a jazz ensemble for Baltic Sea Shipping Company and played on the Soviet cruise ship Alexander Pushkin (traveling to Montreal).
