Roaeing Strings (Ривущие Струны, sometimes stylized as RИVUЩИЕ STRUNЫ) is a Russian experimental noise-rock band, formed in 2006 by Vova Terekh, Lyosha Bortnichuk and Raf Badretdinov. Strings are playing noisy and energetic songs with provocative bastardized lyrics, inspired by the 60s psychedelia, garage rock and classic Detroit bands like MC5, The Stooges, etc. The sound and artistic image is based on the composite character of an underground Soviet punk band of the 1980s, banned and repressed by the authorities. Terekh started playing punk at the end of the 1980s when he formed Khlam in Bryansk. After playing for a few years, Vladimir began producing other groups, including Distemper (2) and Mister Twister, and also worked as a tour manager for Matrossskaya Tishina. After an over 10-year hiatus, he decided to reunite Khlam with a new line-up, including famous avant-garde sax player Sergey Letov and jazz drummer Rafkhat Badretdinov. After one of the shows, Raf and Terekh met Alexei Bortnichuk. They decided to form a new side project and started rehearsing at the warehouse of Otdelenie VYHOD label, with Oleg Kovriga as unofficial producer. In 2006, Roaeing Strings recorded their debut 1969 Rok & Rol in just five hours. After releasing their second album Mascow Elctrc Guitars Mazzacre Parrt #1 (1970), the band invited Alexei Borisov to join, one of the pioneers of industrial and experimental music in USSR and founder of Notchnoi Prospekt. Praised by Russian critics and warmly welcomed by the audience at their numerous concerts in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, Strings played as an Iggy Pop warm-up at Б1 Maximum in 2007. They were also featured as special guests on the presentation of new A.K. Troitsky book. Since 2008, Sergey Popkov (ex-manager of Grazhdanskaya Oborona) works as a director of the band. Line-up Vova Terekh – vocals, 2-string bass Alexei Bortnichuk – guitar Alexei Borisov – guitar, effects Rafkhat Badretdinov – drums
