Electronic and Pop
The vocal group Трамвай №5 was founded in 1980 by Петко Петков, Кирил Иванов (till 1983); Александрина Митрева, Сами Живкова (till 1983); Оля Громова (from 1983); Гинка Жекова (from 1983); Мая Райкова (from 1983). The leader isПетко Петков - highly experienced from his participation in Студио В, and Кирил Иванов - a sound engineer in the Bularian National Radio. The idea is to create a "schlager" - group led by Петко Петков (the backing vocals in many of the songs are various young performers). They gain popularity with disco-style cover-versions, also promoted by well-made TV-performances, pioneering a videoclip-like approach. The live shows (usually without a band, on "playback") include a dancing show, mostly thanks to Александрина Митрева (a ballet dancer in the Musical Theatre). They make live ant TV shows in в Germany, Russia, Poland, Tunesia, Marocco, Algeria and more. A great success is their co-operation with Кукери, in 1987 (recital on Българска Телевизия - Мелодия На Годината, then a live tour in Russia). In the 90'es they split, Петко Петков performs solo and in duets with the opera-singer Стефка Минева. Гинка Жекова starts a solo-careed as Джина Иванова and she is the main initiator of getting Трамвай №5 back together. Their first live performance is on 7 Dec 2006. In 2008 г. they share the stage with the disco legend Boney M., and an year later they take part in Boney M.'s tour, ending up again in Sofia, on 5 Dec 2009.
