Electronic (Abstract, Experimental)
Notes: Initially made for a video art exchange tour between Japan (Scan Gallery) and Australia (George Paton Gallery), "ADS" has since been purchased by the Visual Arts Board for its video catalogue and has been screened as part of the Sydney Theatre Company's production of "PERFORMANCE 2 - 'MAGAZINE'". Philip : synths & drum programming. 4 track recording. "ADS": 3/4"/colour/sound/17 min/Sept.82 The first version of "I YOU WE" was made on Super 8 for "Art In The Age Of Mechanical Reproduction" at the George Paton Gallery in July 82, and was then remade in its current format for "Pirates & Mutineers" at Roslyn Oxley Gallery 9 in May 83. Philip : synths & drum programming. 4 track recording. "I YOU WE": 3/4"/colour/sound/7 min/May 83 "POP ART" was recorded for one side of a limited give-away single at a special night at the Crystal Ballroom in Dec. 79. Anthe - synthesizer; Leigh - guitars; Philip - drums & bass synth; Ralph - saxes. Recorded with Brian at Latrobe Studios Nov. 79. The Sydney Theatre Company production of "PERFORMANCE 2 - 'MAGAZINE'" (conceived by Ralph Kerle, Tim Gooding & Philip Brophy) occurred for one night only in March 83. The commissioned soundtrack was half original compositions and part cover versions. (Some cover versions included here do not contain the vocals which were provided live by John Swan in 'What's New Pussycat?', Ross Wilson in 'Caravan' and Martin Plaza in 'Ruby'). Bill - fretless Bass (b) guitar (f) double bass (d); Chris - violin (c); Ian - alto sax (e); Leona - trumpet (a); Martin - guitar (f); Philip - all keyboards & drum programming; Vivienne - french horn (a). Recorded with Chris at Quick Lick Studios Feb. 83. B1(f), 'Ruby' is 'Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town' by Mel Tillis B1(g), 'Popcorn' incorrectly credited to Hot Butter on B label. In credits, Anthe is probably Anth - or is it Anthony Montemurro, Ian is probably Ian Cox, Leigh is probably Leigh Parkhill, Ralph is probably Ralph Traviato, and Martin is plausably Martin Plaza... but no definitive evidence for any. If there was, they could also be linked up! Made by → ↑ → P.O.Box 222 Northcote VIC. 3070 Australia PRESENT Records PRE.003 BOX 542D g.p.o. Melbourne Australia
