Social and cultural context: The Barcelona of the post-Olympic age is bustling with social and cultural movements that add a modern note and open up new horizons to a city that has revealed itself to the world. Music is one of the most dynamic movements. Many new projects, bands and new sounds have arrived. Electronic music has reached new heights with the opening of clubs such as Nitsa or Syndicate and festivals like Sonar, which will leave their mark on a whole generation and put the city on the road to unprecedented change and evolution. The teenager who now is behind the project 30drop was part of the cultural effervescence of the city. Biography: As an adolescent, the artist responsible for 30drop discovered new synthetic and electronic sounds that would later influence his work. From the year 1996, his activity as a DJ powered his link with music, focused on the Detroit Techno and Techno sounds, with the industrial references of Birmingham, moving toward an industrial, experimental, noise-based sound, particularly in the mid-2000s. After a creative pause and as a DJ, it was not until 2012 that he decided to set up his new project, 30drop, which he eventually did at the end of 2014 at same time of his label 30D Records of which is the Manager and A&R together with Angel Molina. Ideas and artistic concept: Using experimentation, 30drop does not create its music merely as the culmination of its concerns but as a channel for expression. The twin ideas of timelessness and multi-dimensionality are always present in the project. The play between light and darkness as the music projects these supporting concepts is what defines it. Solid Techno, a repetitive beat, a cosmic melody and syncopated harmony are all used to create an universe that reflects the endless expansion of outer space and, at same time, introspection. Soul and Mind, Muscle and Brain. ’30drop’ Etymology: A SMPTE timecode is a set of cooperating standards to label individual frames of video or film with a timecode. Timecodes are added to film, video or audio material, and have also been adapted to synchronize music. They provide a time reference for editing, synchronization and identification. ’30drop’ is the name of the SMPTE timecode used to synchronize audio and image of the old USA black & white analog TVs in the ages of 50’s and 60’s when the boom of SciFi TV Movies and films arrived at all the Americans houses through television.
