Alternative and Rock
Redención 9-11 was a left wing hardcore punk/post hardcore band from Santiago, Chile; performed together between 1997 and 2002. The band's name is a reference to the 1973 Chilean coup d'état in which the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende was overthrown by a U.S.- backed military Junta. Throughout their existence, Redencion 911 was openly critical, both through their lyrics and commentary during concerts, of the military dictatorship and the influence of Chile's center-right and right wing political parties as well as the conservative wing of the Catholic Church. They played mostly in Santiago and other Chilean cities such as Valparaiso, Chillan, Concepción, as well as brief tours to Argentina and US east coast. Members: * Joao Da Silva – vocals, add guitar (1997-2002). * Se Kyu Choi – guitar (1997–2002). * Mauricio – guitar (2000). * Jaime Martinez – bass (1997–2000). * Alejandra Vaca – bass (2000–2001). * Joaquín Contreras – bass (2001). * Iván Pinto – bass (2002). * Patricio Valdes – drums (1997–2002).
