“A Naifa” is a portuguese band formed in 2004 by Maria Antónia Mendes (vocals), Luís Varatojo (Portuguese guitar) and recently deceased João Aguardela (bass). Their music is inspired by Fado (urban folklore music associated mainly with lisbon and coimbra, but that has grown to “symbolise” –or stand for- the quintessence of “the portuguese soul”) but explores other influences merging into a pop-like sound. They have been considered the best fado&guitar group created since the 1980’s in Portugal. So far, the band has released five records: As Cantigas d'A Naifa (2013) Não se deitam comigo corações obedientes (2012) Uma inocente inclinação para o mal (2008) 3 minutos antes da maré encher (2006) Canções Subterrâneas (2004)
