A.M.M.O (Aligned Minds Mentally Organised) are an East/South London Hip-Hop collective that first started making music back in Autumn 2001. Its members include Cariz (MC), Keelow (MC), Kaan (Producer) and Fatal-E (DJ). They met via darkerthanblue.com, a popular Hip-Hop forum website at the time, where they would trade rhymes, and where Kaan would often share his beats. Even while they were online, they just seemed to click - all showing mutual respect for each other’s work. I guess you could say that they are a product of today’s technological times, as it was the best part of a year that passed before they finally met up in person. They eventually did, at WKD in Camden, to see a performance by the Funk/Hip-Hop band Dirtburg, of which Cariz is also a member, alongside lyricist Boneca. Later that year A.M.M.O first hit the studio, and churned out tunes like “The Pillage”, “H.O.P.E” and “Jazzikal”, which went on to win Ras Kwame’s home-grown cut of the week, when BBC Radio 1xtra was still just a few weeks old. Since then they have enjoyed frequent airplay from DJ Excalibah on 1xtra, and have had write-ups and reviews in Hip-Hop Connection, Undercover, and Big Smoke Magazine, which have all reinforced their much deserved hype. In August 2004, they dropped their Debut EP “The Slewage”, on the Armshouse Records imprint, which has received good reception from the scenes hip-hop purists, and has been tearing up the live circuit around London.
