This compilation was released on the occasion of Abdullah Ibrahim's 70th birthday, 50th anniversary as a recording artist, and the 35th anniversary as an artist on ENJA. Track 2 is an edited version from "Various Artists - The More We Know" (ENJ-9400 2), recorded in 1976. Track 3 and 4 are from "Africa - Tears And Laughter" (ENJ-3039 2), recorded 1979. Track 5 is from "Echoes From Africa" (ENJ-3047 2), recorded 1979. Track 6 and 7 are from "Mindif" (ENJ-5073 2), recorded in 1988. Track 8 is from "Desert Flowers" (ENJ-7011 2), recorded in 1991. Track 9 and 11 are from "Water From An Ancient Well" (TIP-888 812 2), recorded in 1985. Track 10 is from "South Africa" (ENJ-5007 2), recorded in 1983. Track 12 is from "African Suite" (TIP-888 832 2), recorded in 1997. Track 13 is from "re:Brahim - Abdullah Ibrahim Remixed" (NIN-1903 2), remixed in 2004. On the LP "Good News From Africa" (track 1), Ibrahim and Dyani appear as Dollar Brand Duo, but are not credited as such on this compilation.
