American fiddler, and guitarist, born 1926 in the Basile area in Louisiana; died June 9, 2003. Fronted his own band in the 1950s, called Abe Manuel and the Louisiana Hillbillies. Sometimes referred as Abe Manuel Sr. Husband of guitarist Dorothy Manuel. Father of fiddler Abe Manuel, father of guitarist Joe Manuel, and brother of banjoist Joe Manuel (2).
