African singer, from Sénégal (b. 1981 - d. 01.09. 2017) Born in 1981 in Dakar, Ablaye M'Baye, (real name = Abdoulaye Mbaye), comes from a family of griots. Born blind, Ablaye M'Baye started to sing at age 12 when he was a boarder at the National Institute for the Blind in Thiès, Sénégal. Since then, Ablaye Mbaye has released many albums with several successful songs in Senegal, and in the neighbouring countries. Songs include the hit "Yaay Maag Na" ("Mom, I grew up" in Wolof), He has worked with many musicians including Youssou N'Dour, Disiz La Peste and Kery James. Ablaye M'Baye passed away suddenly on January 9, 2017 in the recording studio while preparing his new album.
