A.k.a. Adam Christopher Carter
Adam Carter is an American cellist, a lecturer and member of Rivanna String Quartet at the University of Virginia, founding member of Tarab Cello Ensemble, and the principal cellist of the Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra. He grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and attended the North Carolina School of the Arts. Carter received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Eastman School Of Music, and completed PhD at the University Of Wisconsin. In 1998, Adam Carter won the top prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Active as a recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician, and teacher, Adam Carter had been performing with The Richmond Symphony, Wisconsin College Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra, Madison Symphony, Winston-Salem Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Fairfax Symphony, and Cedar Rapids Symphony orchestras. Before joining the U.Va faculty, Carter was an adjunct professor of cello and bass at Ripon College in Wisconsin.
