Born: 6 January 1916, Kelvinside, Glasgow, Scotland Died: 8 April 2004, London, England Scottish double bass player and teacher at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Member of the Philharmonia Orchestra from 1948 to 1963 but returned occasionally until 2002. He was awarded an MBE in 1989.
