Album DE 2005 on Sonorium label
Electronic and Rock (Gothic Rock, Modern Classical, Black Metal, Electro, Avant-garde)
Short Description: A unique combination of orchestral, gothic-electro, dark metal, neo-folk, medieval and renaissance music elements Following up on their successful debut CD, "Winter, so unsagbar Winter ..." (2003), Adversus released their second album "Einer Nacht Gewesenes" in late 2005. A sophomore album that continues with an uncompromised musical vision. The musical elements that brought Adversus their initial critical acclaim are presented on this disc in an even more refined form. Seven musicians forge various styles and influences including orchestral, gothic-electro, dark metal, neo-folk, medieval and renaissance music. Orchestral scores contrast with driving refrains, choral passages blend with metallic beats and lyrical folk melodies lead to infernal power noise. Adversus not only utilize refined electro and neoclassic programming but also incorporate retort bass, piano, violin, clarinet, flute and bagpipe. Most Adversus tracks are longer than standard song formats. They burst forward with various time signature and harmonic changes, capitivating melodies and instrumental breaks. The voices heard belong to Susanne, a classically trained mezzosoprano who sings classical and dramatic musical passages, and Rosendorn who speaks, sings and whispers with an aggressive sonor. The lineup on "Einer Nacht Gewesenes" also includes soprano Manja Tyrae Gueckel as well as guest musicians like ASP, Max Testory (Chamber) and the bagpipe-player Thomas Zoeller (Estampie, Qntal). Adversus give equal priority to both musical and lyrical content. The captivating and unique verbal expression is reminiscent of early poetic styles yet is mysteriously modern. Mastermind Rosendorn envisions "Einer Nacht Gewesenes" as a poetic cycle regarding the relationship between two souls thrown together, fatefully meeting and then inevitably departing, all over the course of one night. A modern tragedy in a darkly romantic and timeless mode. The CD is offered for sale in a large format DVD box with a 24 page color booklet in which Rosendorn has blended his haunting original artwork with stunning graphics. Each song is represented thematically and extensive text is included. Copyright 2005 by Sonorium.
