Agustín Charles Soler (Agustí Charles I Soler / Agustí Charles Y Soler / Agustí Charles) - Spanish composer Born in Manresa (Barcelona) on July 12, 1960. Studied composition initially with Miquel Roger and Albert Sard and later with Josep Soler, Franco Donatoni and Luigi Nono, and worked on piano proficiency with Angel Soler. He earned a Doctorate in Composition at the Eastman School of Music of Rochester, New York where he studied with Samuel Edler; and he also studied with Joan Guinjoan, Tomas Marco, Cristobal Halffter, and Garcia Abril, among others. His compositions have earned a number of prizes and awards and he is the recipient of several notable commissions; as well, his music has been performed all over the world. Besides teaching composition at the Zaragoza Higher Music Conservatoire, he occasionally conducts the contemporary music ensemble Grupo Enigma.
