Aktuala were a major innovative force in Italian new-music in the 1970's, an extremely seminal combo, of which many of the musicians kept active in other projects for decades. Like the Third Ear Band, Embryo or Between, Aktuala cross-bred ancient and ethnic musics (Eastern and African culture) with rock and avant-garde forms, creating a pioneering new form of music that went beyond anything heard before.
