Ukranian born conductor, songwriter, musical director, arranger and pianist. (August 12, 1890 - January 10, 1972) Became Al Jolson's musical director in 1919. Worked on several successful Broadway musicals in the 1920s-40s. Eventually became involved with directing, composing and supervising music for radio and television productions.
