American music executive, born 1944 in New York. Teller started his career in the music industry at CBS Records in 1968 as Clive Davis's assistant. After a brief stint as corporate development director at Playboy Enterprises, he returned to CBS in fall of 1971 to work for Bruce Lundvall. In 1974, he was named president of United Artists Records. He quit in 1978, and worked as a free agent for a couple of years. During this time he briefly helped manage Windsong Records. In 1980 he returned to CBS Records as an assistant of Dick Asher, and was made senior vice president and general manager of Columbia Records in June 1981. In 1985 he was named president of CBS Records, a position he held until 1988. From 1988 to 1995 he worked for MCA Records, first as president and COO, and later as CEO and chairman of the MCA Music Entertainment group. From 1997 to 2000 he was CEO of Atomic Pop.
