Album NZ 2008 on Next Best Way label
Rock, Folk, World and (Folk Rock, Acoustic, Lo-Fi)
"Live album from NZ folk-spirit Alastair Galbraith, self-released on his own Nextbestway imprint in an edition of only 50 copies and only available from Volcanic Tongue. This one bundles two live sets, one from 2000 recorded at Sammy’s, Dunedin and one from “a party above Arc” in Dunedin in 2003. The first set is a particularly beautiful recording with Galbraith’s lonesome vocal very intimately recorded, with a ton of drama and implosive emotional power, his guitar heavy with that cutting Syd Barrett style and luminous cascades of single notes. The whole set is the very essence of the up-close loner style, with aspects of UK folk, The Soft Boys, Pip Proud et al but all refracted through Galbraith’s intensely personal soundworld. Second set is drawn from a rowdier party and has a more ‘classic’ Galbraith feel, with a nice garage/psych gnarl to the electric guitar and a zoned, ultra-focussed vocal style." Review from Bolachas Gratis. Comes in a hand-made/hand-painted fold-out gatefold sleeve with printed discs with a strong smell of patchouli.
