Rock, World and Folk

Albert Elias (born 1930 in Iraq, died December 25, 2014) was an Israeli qanun player and flautist. His career started in the 1940s on Iraqi radio, where most of the musicians were Jewish at the time. During that time he played with ناظم الغزالي (Nazem al-Ghazali) and the al-Kuwaity brothers. He emigrated in the 1950s as part of the mass flight of the Jews of Iraq to Israel. He later played with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
