b. Aug 12, 1949 d. Sep 17, 2013 Female singer and composer, born in Vilnius, Lithuania (then Russia) by Polish parents. She grew up in Siberia as her family was deported there by Stalin, but returned to Poland in 1967. She moved to Norway in 1970, took the name Alex in 1976 and released two acclaimed disco-funk LPs ("Alex" and "Handle With Care") in 1977. Her solo career continued until 1983. She moved to Los Angeles later in the 1980's, where she worked on a more low-profile basis in the music industry. Alex was found dead in her apartment in Oslo at the age of 64.
