Episodic Neocortical Apparitions (Spontaneous or Systematic) Stages 1 To 9

Album CA 2017 on Wreck Age Recordings label
Dance (Abstract, Acid, Deep Techno, Techno, Noise, Experimental, Illbient)

Features percussion and drum programming by the late Simon Sinistar from the back-cover notes: STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX ... Literally. In 2015 I inherited some money which could have been used as a downpayment on a small house until my wife reminded me of just how much in serious debt we were. The deal was that I keep a small sum to re-equip myself with new musical gear while she paid off a good 2/3 of our debt. Time being a serious luxury which eats up most of my every day existance, I was unable to actually experiment with my new electronic toys until at least a few weeks/months after their purchase. The recordings heard on this release was the firt ever improvisations using the new intruments without actually having tested them. I had fiddled a bit with the MicroKorg at the store, and also plugged in the TB-3 to play with some knobs, but as for the MicroBrute, the multi-track recorder, and the mixing console, these were their first time actually being fondled and frolicked with. After having stumbled on Simon Sinister after a few years apart we decided to try to continue our long enduring musical collaboration even if our schedules were anything but co-operative. With his unfortunate passing in late 2015 (you can't keep partying like you are 18 for 26 years straight in your mid-forties without your health catching up with you) I took it upon myself to keep his contributions going by diving into our collaborative and his own solo archives, attempting to salvage what he had been working on for the past decade and a half. I was quite impressed and touched at how he had kept his old Dr-550 / TR808 & 909 filled with rhythm tracks to be used by us in some of our more techno-oriented projects, to which I am glad to revive starting with this (these) releases. In essence it is a return to the basics while starting over from scratch, keeping the old spirit filled with free energy, not dwelling too much on perfectionism but embracing what life we have, the primordial punk attitude of fuck it let's do it and figure out the mess if there's time left afterwards. So I dedicate these to my partner in grime crime, then and as for as long as his spirit remains within those of us who luckily shared his livelyhood and dementia.
