Romanian with hebrew origins poet, journalist and translator born Urziceni, February 11, 1875 - passed away in Bucharest, August 15, 1954. Alexandru Toma alias name was chosen by Ion Luca Caragiale, in 1896, on the occasion of the publication of a poem in "Epoca Literară" ("Literary Era"), literary magazine. In his earlier literary and journalistic used other aliases, like Falstaff, Hâncu, Crayon, Tomșa and Endymion.
