Composer
A.k.a. Alfred Henry Ackley
Reverend Alfred H. Ackley (January 21, 1887 - July 3, 1960), Composer (mainly a forte for lyrics) and brother of music composer Bentley D. Ackley. He received musical training from his father and studied cello at the Royal Academy of Music. He graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary in Maryland, and was ordained a Presbyterian minister in 1914. He wrote around 1,500 religious and secular songs, and was associated with the Rodeheaver music company (Homer Rodeheaver). John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, awarded him an honorary Doctor of Sacred Music degree.
