Alice Garner joined the Xylouris Ensemble in 1991 and played cello on all the Ensemble’s albums. In 1999 she toured Crete with Giorgos Xylouris, Shelagh Hannan and lyra player Stelios Petrakis, and returned in 2010 for a duo with Xylouris. With Mairéad and Dee Hannan, Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody, she worked on music for Rachael Perkins’ One Night the Moon. She plays in a trio (euphonia) with Mairead and Dee Hannan, and has worked with musicians in Pontian and Kurdish traditions. She wrote original music for shows by Actors for Refugees, which she co-founded. She is a postdoctoral research fellow in History at La Trobe University, a published author, and a professional actor (Jindabyne, SeaChange, etc.)
