GB
English artist, painter & sculptor whose work embodies elements of erotica and forniphilia. Born 1937 in Southampton, UK, Jones studied at Hornsey College of Art. He was expelled from the Royal College of Art, where he had worked with the likes of Hockney and Kitaj, and taught lithography at Croydon College of Art between 1961 & 1963. In 1964 he moved to New York and by 1969 his erotic sculptures had gained critical acclaim, inspiring the set of Kubrick's film Clockwork Orange (often confused as being Jones' work). He did however design the set for Barbet Schroeder's film Maitresse in 1976. He received an RA in 1986 and is correctly titled Allen Jones R.A.
