Allister MacGillivray CM, D.Litt (hon), (born January 17, 1948) is a Canadian singer/songwriter, guitarist, and music historian from the Cape Breton region of Nova Scotia. He was born in the coal-mining and fishing town of Glace Bay.Instrumentally, his songs have been arranged for bagpipes, brass quintet, recorder ensemble, jazz ensemble, ukulele ensemble, massed brass & pipe band, guitar, violin, piano, and symphony suite.His children, Ciarán and Fiona MacGillivray, are also noted performers in the Celtic-music field.Allister MacGillivray, C.M., Albert Bridge (Nouvelle-Écosse)
