Alpha Aesar is the former musical escapades of Warren Kroll (Dorosoto, Forrest) and Carl States (21 Jumpsuit, Speed Control Head). Alpha is a throwback to 1990s analog IDM, influenced by the early output of labels such as Warp, Rephlex and Canada's Suction Records. The project was "created to bring warm nostalgia into the dreary world around the year 1998" and existed until 2001. In the years that followed, the songs circulated privately among their artist friends and always maintained a warm regard amongst a small circle of musicians. In 2008, the recordings finally surfaced in an official release via I, Absentee. The full retrospective featured of all of the duo's recorded output, newly remastered, with remixes from many of the artists/friends who enjoyed the material privately over the years.
