Album JM 1994 on All Tone label
Reggae (Rocksteady)
In 1958, Alton Ellis had the privilege of performing for the Governor General of Jamaica, Sir Hugh Foot on his visit to Boys Town. He was so impressed with Alton's performance that he requested to meet him after the show and shook him warmly by the hand. It was at this moment that Alton decided on a full-time singing career, and so was born 'The Godfather Of Them All'; Alton Ellis, the king of rocksteady. Many of you may have heard that Alton celebrated his 30th Anniversary at Le Palais, Hammersmith 1993, and it's now become an annual event. Many thanks to all who helped to make this album. Now sit back and listen to the evergreen voice of Alton Ellis. Recorded in Montreal, Canada & Easystreet Studio. Mixed at Easystreet. Engineered by Eddie & Speedie. Published by Stone House Publishing.
