Alvin & The Chipsets are Alex Delauney & Vincent Mallasis: an up and coming synth-hop duo from Nantes, France. “Vengeance” is Alvin & The Chipsets’ first album after releasing an EP on the Russian Nu Aura label. It actually took the duo two years to capture the right sound. By experimenting with different vintage recording techniques they finally reached that warm 80’s frequency they felt the album needed. Their sound can be described as a symbiosis between instrumental hip-hop and vintage-synth driven funk. They developed this specific sound inspired by the music they love: krautrock, classic boombap, Detroit techno, electronica and jazz.
