American photographer of the early 20th century, born 11 June 1882 in in Boston, Massachusetts, USA and died 23 November 1966 in Rhos-on-Sea (Colwyn Bay) North Wales, UK. He is particularly well known for his pictures of cities, and in 1917 he showed what were the first completely abstract photographs, which he called "vortographs".
