A.k.a. Cheb Youssef Youssef El Mejjad
Amïra Saqati was founded by members of the successful Moroccan underground trance band "Aisha Kandisha’s Jarring Effects". The group blends Moroccan and North-African music traditions (Raï, Gnawa, Berber music, Jeel) with western dance and ambient sounds. Synthesizers and samplers sit alongside violins, mandolin, flute, rai-type vocals, and some electronic rhythms. After their first release "Agdal Reptiles on Majoun", a new album by Cheb Youssef and Pat Jabbar is now available: "al bharr" (´the Sea´) is dedicated to the sea and its endless and mysterious powers.
