Single US 1968 on Reena Records label
Rock (Psychedelic Rock)
The third 45 by this La Crescenta band came in two variants, both released on Reena 1026 with near-identical labels. The first (less common pressing) featured the original (2:57) version of Mr. Brotherhood (matrix EH-1026), which Reena thought was too long. It was almost immediately replaced by a second pressing featuring an abridged (1:53) version (matrix EH-1026-RE-1); engineer and arranger Del Kacher had removed one verse and replaced Bill Bottrell's solo with a short freaky one of his own. Bill Bottrell cannot have been put out too much by this "vandalism" because he would gain entry to the world of engineering and production not long after, by applying for a job at Kacher's studio, California Recorders. The rest, as they say, is history.
