Anabollic Steroids (deliberate misspelling) are a punk band who first appeared in 1978 as a blag, with sessions taped from John Peel shows. Young punks James Bondage (Gerard) and Kappa pushed the bogus demo's around their school, convincing peers that they were a proper band, and so, the template for what they called 'Stink' was born. By 1981, with the introduction of Steve Steroid and 999 Si (Si Barry), they had recorded their own material and become a genuine gigging band with a dedicated following of so called 'Stinkers' that loyally attended shows at venues like Skunx and the Moonlight... they chalked up around twenty gigs before splitting early in 1983. Infamous for many reasons and legends in South London, their candle burned bright and fast, with band members all moving on to more 'progressive' post punk acts. However, a reunion gig in 2012 unintentionally led to the band reforming (without Gerard) and so, 'Stink' continues into the 21st Century...
