Brazilian choro music composer, conductor and musician (flute, clarinet, sax, contrabass) (1866 - 1907). Joined band mates from Banda do Arsenal de Guerra, from Banda de Paquetá and other choro players he formed the best bad from Rio de Janeiro. Under his conduction, the Banda do Corpo de Bombeiros (Firemen Band) had a big success being one of the first Brazilian bands recording for Edison in 1902.
