A.k.a. The Anderson Soares Project
Anderson Soares was born in São Paulo, Brazil and has spent the last 12 years djing professionally. Still only 28 years old, he has undeniably become South America’s #1 soulful house DJ and producer. Anderson spent many years working in record stores and some time in the international department of the East West label, but it is in the djs booth of Brazil’s top clubs that he cut his teeth and learnt what has now become his art. A specialist in house and garage, Anderson has always held true to his latin roots as well as flirting with the influences of jazz, funk, disco, RnB, Brazilian, Afro and any deep and soulful sound, from the rare classic to the most up to date killers, in an effort to captivate the dancefloor and make them do just that – dance! Anderson Soares is still, surprisingly, somewhat of an unknown quantity outside of his native Brazil. However, he has made some memorable appearances internationally in Miami, Washington, Houston, New York, London, Huddersfield, Frankfurt and at clubs like Red, Andalu, Filter 14, Cargo, Notting Hill Arts Club, Bar Rumba and Club Non. Having had a regular radio show for almost a decade, Anderson is currently at the controls of the Night Sessions show on São Paulo’s Energia 97FM, without a doubt the Brazil’s most influential and trend-setting station. In 2000, he signed a record deal with South America’s biggest independent record company: Trama. The following year he released the critically acclaimed mix cd ‘House Essentials’, one of the highest-selling house compilations ever to be released in this content. More recently, Anderson Soares has been raising eyebrows with some fantastic production work. His first remix was in 1998 for Curtis & Moore (‘Never Stop’, Soulshine Records, USA). He has followed up with Paula Lima ‘Sai Daqui Tristeza’ on London’s Mr. Bongo Records, Patricia Marx ‘Despertar’ and Jair Oliveira ‘Bom Dia Anjo’ both on Nova Vida Records, Brazil. He will be completing his debut album on Nova Vida/Trama at the end of 2003. In the meantime, Anderson Soares is continuing to wow crowds worldwide with his uniquely latin spirit and soul – and by the looks of it, he is hotly tipped to continue doing so for many more years to come.
