André Allen (real name Basil Schmidt) was a South African artist born in Cape Town. He won the South African "Hunt For Talent" Contest in 1962. He had a South African Top 20 hit in 1972 with "Ek Is Verlief Op Jou". It reached #14 and charted for 4 weeks. He passed away in 2012.
