Musician and composer André Mingas died at the age of 61 in 2011. He was considered one of the artists of the golden generation of Angolan music along with Teta Lágrimas, Filipe Mukenga, Waldemar Bastos and others. His first album, "Coisas da Vida" was released over 30 years ago, but still continues to be one of the Angolan musical references, mixing local rhythms with jazz and rock. Among his best known works is the song "Mufete," considered one of the great successes of Angola. The musician was also deputy minister of Culture and during his term created the SADIA, Angolan society of Authors. Beside the music, André Mingas was an architect that devoted part of his life to politics having been appointed Consul of Angola in São Paulo, Brazil. He also served as Secretary of the President for Local Affairs.
