German visual artist and photographer, born 15 January 1955 in Leipzig, German Democratic Republic (now Germany) and raised in Düsseldorf, Germany. In 2007 his print "99 Cent II, Diptych" was sold for GBP 1.7 million (USD $3.3 million) at Sotheby's, London. This is the highest price paid for a single photographic image ever.
