Spoken Word (Audiobook)
The four stories about Victoria Plum on this album were written and narrated by Angela Rippon. For her, writing about Victoria Plum meant an extension of Angela's journalistic ability and, therefore, a challenge, one which Angela has readily accepted, and which, judging by the sales of the first four Victoria Plum books has proven extremely successful. Victoria Plum is a novice fairy, one whose magic should work because she tries so very hard. But trying doesn't always mean succeeding and Victoria's adventures, skllfully plotted by Angela Rippon, make for funny but gentle reading. The easiest part of writing, and narrating the Victoria Plum stories for Angela comes in describing the birds, flowers and the general woodland settings. Angela's love of the countryside shows through and indeed the surroundings of her cottage in Devon became very much the "guinea pig" for craving the Victoria Plum stories. Assisted by her "helper" Benjamin, Victoria always starts with a problem but, like all good fairy stories, there is always a happy ending. Includes a Victoria Plum Competition entry form.
