In 1992, Wiedl, born in Munich in 1967, participated in the "Grand Prix der Volksmusik", a competition for singers representing German, Austrian and Swiss Folk. The event taking place in Zürich made Wiedl win the second prize (among 15 singers in toto). This success can be regarded as the real beginning of her career and made her quite popular (at least for a while) in the German speaking countries of Europe.
