Angelo Stefanato

Musician of Classical and Children's Music

Italian violinist. Born in 1926 in S. Stino di Livenza at age of two he moved with his family to Cordovado. Concertmaster of the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia in Rome was also concertmaster of the symphony orchestras of RAI Turin and Rome. Late teens he began an intense concert career as a soloist with leading conductors such as Giulini, Maazel and Bernstein who called him "the best concertmaster of the orchestra in the world" with whom he had ever worked. In the 50's the founder of "I Virtuosi di Roma", Renato Fasano, called him as a soloist for some historical tours including one in Philadelphia where Toscanini said "this is not a sound, it is a miracle." In 1983 he was named Academic of the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome. Died in Rome, October 2014.
