Rock and Alternative
Angst was formed in 1979 in Denver, Colorado, with the original name The Instants. With the punk scene virtually non-existent in Denver at that time, they briefly moved to the UK before finally relocating in San Francisco and taking the name Angst. Unlike the majority of bands on NOT SO QUIET..., Angst actually managed to land a contract with trend-setting American punk label, SST, the label through which they released a whopping five albums through the '80s. Angst consisted of founders/brothers Joe Pope (bass & vocals) and Jon E. Risk (guitar & vocals). Michael Hursey rounded out the trio on drums. (Hursey was replaced by Andy Kaps shortly before the band's final album, Cry For Happy)
