First performance of this production by The Australian Opera: Sydney Opera House, October 22, 1973 in the presence of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. An excerpt from the album "Anna Russell 'Live' at the Sydney Opera House", an Australia-only release EMI/HMV OASD-7581. Record housed in back cover pocket of a 36-page, saddle-stitched b/w programme booklet (235 x 235mm) Programme booklet edited and designed by Wenzel de Neergaard, includes articles by editor: "Schikaneder and the quest for the sources", "Mozart's Last Letters", "Mozart's Masonic Opera", and "Rehearsing The Magic Flute. Komische Oper, Berlin" by Götz Friedrich, as well as 4 pages of full-page sponsor advertisements. NB: The connection between the record and programme is limited to the last paragraph of the acknowledgements page (image 4): "But "The Magic Flute" is not only Freemasonry and divine art. The record by Anna Russell included therefore may give you a more Papageno-like approach to the opera, which happily is in its own way quite as relevant."
